Pannone’s Problems and DLA’s Difficulties |
| Following a wave of firms announcing job losses, DLA Piper is the latest firm in redundancy consultations. Around 20 fee earners and 20 support staff will be made redundant throughout the UK, from its offices in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and London.
The moves follow redundancies in August of an associate, legal director and several assistants in the London media and commercial group.
However, the news is not all negative, as none of DLA’s partners will be affected by the cuts. Following reduced demand for finance and commercial property solicitors, and increasing demands for insolvency advice, 20 lawyers will be retrained in restructuring.
Pannone has also announced the redundancy of Deborah Ascott-Jones. Deborah was one of the first non-solicitors to be given equity partner status. Deborah, who has worked in communications and commercial marketing for 20 years in firms such as Pannone and Beachcrofts, is confident she will return to work in the near future.
